Pregnancy and Post Natal Massage

I love, love, love supporting mums and mums to be and massage is one of my favourite way to do so!
Massage in pregnancy can help you adjust to, and make you more comfortable with, the physical and emotional changes your body experiences. It can improve sleep patterns and energy levels as well as ease tension in strained muscles and soothe an overactive mind.

Attention will be paid to all areas of your body that are under increased strain during pregnancy. Back, shoulders, arms and hands, legs and feet can all be included to ease muscle strain and lymphatic drainage techniques can be incorporated to reduce any swelling.

More often than not pregnant clients doze off during the treatment and also report sleeping better for a few nights following their massage. Double sleep win!

A detailed consultation will be carried out before your first treatment to make sure the massage is tailored to your exact needs. During the treatment you will be made comfortable with plenty of cushions, towels and bolsters for support in either a side lying or sitting position. You will be snuggled in lovely, large and soft towels and only the part that is being massaged will be uncovered.

Clients have reported reduced swelling in their limbs and decreased aches in their back, hips and legs following treatment.

"Massage during pregnancy can improve sleep patterns and energy levels"

Postnatally, a massage can ease aches from hours of holding a newborn and address some of the  stresses and demands of being a new mum (I've had 2 kids, who are both still fairly young so I definitely get it!).
It's vital to stop and appreciate what your body has achieved, and the changes it has gone through. Massage addresses any aches and will also help to point out where tension is building so you can be more aware of this moving forward. I will give you advice on exercises and self treatment techniques you can carry on at home.
Although it would be lovely for you to spend this time by yourself, you are also more than welcome to bring your baby along to the session. Anything so you can have a break and look after yourself!

If you have had a c-section and are experiencing issues with your scar, I can help with this, too. I practice ScarWork and have had fantastic results with c-section scars during their healing period as well as many years later. Restricted movement, numbness, sensitivity and physical appearance of the scar can all be addressed.

I am hugely passionate about women receiving more support on their journey into motherhood and beyond, and run another business to reflect this. So for more post natal support, pop over to my other website Raise Up Mums or join the Facebook community for realistic motherhood insights, coping / thriving tools and solidarity galore.

Do contact me if you have any questions at all before booking your pregnancy or post natal massage.

Please note that massage is not advised in the first 3 months of pregnancy, but hugely beneficial from your 12 week scan right up to you due date, or even past it!
